Surgery

Will having gum surgery hurt a lot? Gum surgery is always performed under local anesthesia. Once anesthetized (numb), there is no sensation of any discomfort. Pain medication will normally be given immediately after the procedure to insure it will be effective once the anesthesia wears off.

What should I expect following surgery? Following surgery, some discomfort is to be expected but it should be easily managed with the prescribed pain medications.

How long does periodontal surgery take? Depending on the procedure the periodontal surgery can take anywhere from 30m minutes to 1 hour.

Will I have to come back for additional visits following treatment? Following most procedures one or more post-operative visits are required to assess healing and address any patient concerns.

How much does periodontal surgery cost? The cost of periodontal treatment varies depending on the type, difficulty and materials involved. Dr. Krychman accepts Visa, MasterCard as well as Interact.  If you have insurance, we will prepare a predetermination for you to submit prior to treatment, as well as any other forms that may be required during or following treatment. Our philosophy is not to allow financial concerns to stand in the way of proper periodontal treatment.

What do I do in case of an emergency? Dr. Krychman is available for any emergency following treatment. Patients receive a post-operative instruction sheet explain all the necessary steps. As well, Dr. Krychman’s cellular number and office number are provided on the sheet.
